Our very special guest star Mr. Gordon Goodwin is an extraordinary pianist, saxophonist, composer/arranger and conductor. As the world-renowned leader of his Big Phat Band, Gordon has amassed 21 Grammy nominations, four Grammy wins, and three Emmy wins.

Mr. Goodwin is the most decorated big band leader of the 21st century. He is the leader of the Big Phat Band, an internationally known Big Band, with a reputation as one of the most exciting large ensembles in Jazz. The BPB has released ten critically acclaimed recordings including, “Life in the Bubble,” which garnered four Grammy nominations, and won the coveted Grammy for “Best Large Ensemble Album.”

Gordon’s composing for film and television has garnered him three Emmy Awards. He has written and worked with artists; Ray Charles, Christina Aguilera, Johnny Mathis, John Williams, Natalie Cole, David Foster, Sarah Vaughan, Mel Torme, Leslie Odom Jr, and Quincy Jones, to name a few.

His charts/arrangements are played all over the world, and along with his method books and CDs, his work has been a robust source of inspiration and learning for thousands of young musicians. Gordon is the host of a popular new radio program called, “Phat Tracks with Gordon Goodwin,” airing weekends on KJAZZ—America’s jazz and blues station. His work can also be heard in the PIXAR film Incredibles 2.

We are honored to have Gordon as part of our Knights of Swing family, and we know that his acting debut with us is yet another chapter in the brilliant career of a “one of a kind” modern American Jazz Icon.
